About Brinna
Brinna is a Swedish word. There are three words where English has one: Tända, to light a fire. Bränna, to burn something. Brinna, what the fire does after that, by itself.
The company started with a bucket. We went looking for a wooden sauna bucket, found that nearly all of them are plastic inside, and could not find one that didn't involve paying more than $300 for a hand-coopered oak bucket from a workshop in Ukraine.
That seemed like a strange gap. Sauna is a several-hundred-year-old tradition built entirely around wood, water, stone, and heat, and the accessories sold alongside it are mostly petroleum products.
So we make a small range of sauna goods from materials that belong in a hot room. Linen bench textiles from Lithuania. A wooden bucket lined with steel rather than plastic. A felt hat made with 100% real wool.
We are small, and we intend to stay that way for a while. We would rather make a few things properly than forty things adequately.
Where things come from. Our linen and wool products come from Lithuania. Our buckets come from Pakistan, made with wood from America and steel from Japan.
Brinna is based in Connecticut.
